Is Grace created or uncreated ? Another excellent talk

I didn’t say God can’t touch creation. I said He isn’t affected by us - nature doesn’t control, contain, distort, or affect God/He stands outside it - so, we can never touch Him, He must touch us first. Therefore, *if* God does interact with creation, that energy (action) is a new effect - it’s...

Is Grace created or uncreated ? Another excellent talk

Only if you consider the energies (actions) to be attached to the essence (being of God) like fingers. If instead you say God’s actions (energies) are distinct (new) interactions in the world, then these are parts of God, at all. Instead, the “energies of God” is the name for the direct contact...

Is Grace created or uncreated ? Another excellent talk

Thomism specifically states that God has no relation to the world (that is, He is not in or affected by the happening of the created world). So no, this isn’t true.

Is Grace created or uncreated ? Another excellent talk

The way I understand created Grace is, there was a time that Grace wasn’t operating > God performs an act > there is a change (created, different than what was before). The Grace is created only in the relation of God to the object - the action (energy) is a change (created) Which is not how...

Roman Popes and the 7 Ecumenical Councils

Does it really depose the Pope?

Roman Popes and the 7 Ecumenical Councils

Perhaps not, I can't find it, at the moment. Probably misremembering.

Roman Popes and the 7 Ecumenical Councils

I would have to do some digging. The original intent of the Emperor was much stricter, and if I remember correctly He wanted to excommunicate the entire Roman church. The Father of the council instead made sure to detail they only judged the Pope for not upholding orthodoxy.

Roman Popes and the 7 Ecumenical Councils

It necessary for the excommunicated heretic to affirm his own excommunication? This didn’t happen for the other excommunicated Patriarchs.

Roman Popes and the 7 Ecumenical Councils

It's both interesting the distinction the Fathers of the Council made, against the intent of the Emperor, which was to judge the Pope and not the whole Roman church (explicitly). Also interesting that even after this had been done, they imprisoned Pope Vigilius until he ratified the council and...

Fr. Mike Schmitz's Bible in a year podcast

He's not one to go on the offensive, but I've never heard him say anything suspect. He's not an academic, but spends most of his time targeting highschool/college age kids with his content.

Is Grace created or uncreated ? Another excellent talk

What are these from? Is this from the 14th century Greek council? Should I quote Trent to you, and consider you beaten? These anathemas do no capture the Latin doctrine. Given that, are we both now in agreement?
