As soon as those quarters run out he'll be back.

I like nickel poker machines & good beverages.

Well, IIRC, someone made up a April fools banner for OrthodoxJudaism and OrthodoxIslam.net last year.

Have fun Dustin and remember you must double tithe your winnings. ;)

Hi everyone, I'm back. Didn't win anything, lost a small amount of money (planned on playing for fun). It was a great trip, we had great all you can eat buffets, etc.

Trump is so full of it. His casino was horrible and there were not enough waitresses to give out drinks. GRRRRR.

you can't beat the all you can eat buffets. the casinos will always give you free food as long as you throw more money at them.....

mr. burns (of "simpsons" fame) realized that a casino was the perfect business!

We have a casino outside of Thessaloniki now :(. Ever noticed how their advertising always appeals to the passions?

Free food (gluttony)
Free dance show with skimpily clad girls (lust)
Free money, if you win ;D (greed and sloth)

We've seen a thriving delicatessan close down and a chain of bread stores on the brink of closing (they no longer sell milk and other perishables because their power was cut off for not paying their power bills) all due to the owner/managers losing bigtime at the casino. Apparently the carpark outside the casino was a good place to buy a nice car really cheap as people who were losing were willing to sell their cars for cash so they could go back in to the casino and recover their losses :(, more often than not losing that as well.

I personally think casinos are evil.

Prodromos,

Certainly casinos can be places of temptation. I don't think they are intrinsically evil for the following reasons:

1) They are fun if one says to himself "I am going to play a certain amount."
2) The all-you-can eat buffets are great: not for gluttony, but because of the awesome variety of food they have which costs about the same price as a dinner in America at a lower-end quality restaurant
3) In America at least a lot of the shows are not X Rated, but they have magic shows and animal shows or Celine Dion singing, which is cool.

But if the casinos in your area are using bad means to lure people, I agree that's wrong.

I can accept Prodromos's ideas, I visit Las Vegas at least once a month to visit my brother, it is a great temptation of one's faith, it is full of lust, gluttony and greed, though they try to hide/veil it.

I honestly can say most times I am strong and can avoid most temptations, but there are times when it is overpowering and I am weak.

One needs to use the failures like this to strengthen one's self.

i've always found places like vegas and Atlantic City very plastic and fake --- there's few places in the world i'd rather go less than these. the casino world just doesn't appeal to me. I hated "the strip" in vegas --- very depressing!
Even the many "Indian Gaming" casinos we have here in Washington state and which we had in Tucson (which, BTW, are packed every weekend and many weeknights) are not appealing. there are millions of better ways to spend one's time (and money).

My wife and I prefered looking at all of the cool hotels in Vegas and eating at those buffets we keep talking about :) When I was in Vegas I only gambled 20 bucks and won 70 then walked out the door and didn't gamble the rest of the week. LOL
