Αγιοκατάταξη του Γέροντος Πορφυρίου! (Canonization of Elder Porphyrios!)
http://www.romfea.gr/epikairotita/20640-2013-11-27-12-19-13

Rough, quick Google Translation:
"In agiokatataxi of Elder Porphyrios proceeded, according to information from Romfea.gr, the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The information indicates that the Ecumenical Patriarchate and maybe make agiokatataxi of Elder Paisios.
Already some Metropolises the bells ring joyfully on agiokatataxi of Elder Porphyrios of Kafsokalyvitis."

A couple articles linked by Mystagogy, they don't address the canonization since they are older articles.

If Elder Porphyrios has been officially glorified, do you have any references to share which would demonstrate this?

had to edit the original post, see the link in Greek. I provided a rough translation of the article. Romfea.gr is somewhat of a more official or mainstream news source for the Church of Greece.

I've seen the press release from the Patriarchate.  They (the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate) recognized at their meeting on November 27th the sanctity of both Elder Porphyrios the Kapsokalivite (20th century) and Elder Meletios, founder of the monastery of Ypseni on the island of Rhodes (19th century).

Glory to God. Too late for me though. I really wanted to have him as my patron saint when I was baptized in 2009... no dice.

Fr George,

Is this announcement equivalent to "canonisation" (as it would be in our tradition), or do you have to have some sort of formal canonisation ceremony before you can call him St Porphyrios?

The official ceremony is usually part of the Synodal meeting.

I should have clarified.  A declaration of canonization was made and signed by the 13 members of the Synod making his public declaration as a Saint official.  An ecclesiastical-type ceremony will be held in Athens at his convent on Sunday.

I really profited from Wounded by Love and have a lot of admiration and respect for St. Porphyrious.

Can someone offer me a pronunciation guide for "Kafsokalyvitis" . . . is it "kaf-sok-al-y-vitis"?

IIRC, the Holy Synod or the EP mentioned Elder Philotheos in the writ of glorification.

Already did that. Too bad that it was not contemporary Greek and that I've forgotten most of what I learnt.
