For those who looked into Oriental Orthodoxy, why did you pick EO?

Title; I asked this to the Oriental Orthodox, and I want to ask the same question again.

Well, I always say, that both, Antiochian (EO) and Coptic (OO) Churches (along to some extent with Serbian Church) have brought me to the faith (i.e Orthodoxy) of my ancestors. Maybe if there had been a Coptic or Syriac regular parish there, I would have considered seriously such one. But in whole Poland there is no regular OO parish - only some Armenian and - it's quite recent thing - Coptic services.

For me it was pretty straightforward; learning about the lives of the EO saints in America convinced me that the Holy Spirit was quite active in the Chalcedonian Church.

I'm a long way from understanding the Christological controversies of Chalcedon, so my decision to choose EO over OO wasn't based on any sort of deep theological understanding. It was about St. John of San Francisco and St. Herman of Alaska, mostly. I knew there were saints here in the US and I wanted to join them.

I didn't really care about it. There was no parish here either, I thought there were due to some misunderstanding, but I'd rather go at my own parish or just occasionally where there were friends.

I'm not sure I'd properly call it "looking into it" anyway, but basically distance.

That had a big impact on me too.

Sometimes, for me, it's too much Church and want to focus on other things.
