God works in mysterious ways.  Because things looked like they could not get worse, the doctors decided to go ahead and do necessary but potentially risky work on his heart, and he's stabilized.  It's been a bit of emotional whiplash today, but in the right direction.  Glory to God!  He's not "out of the woods" by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not quite as grave as the doctors thought it was mere hours ago.
