Over the past two months the Lord has blessed the church I attend with a few little ones, and their baptisms are coming up.  Is it customary when infants are baptized in the Orthodox Church to give a gift? If so, suggestions?

If you are somehow related to the family, money is always appreciated. If you are just a standbyer, you do not need to give anything.

If you are a sponsor, then typically a cross (for later in life).  Otherwise, maybe just general gifts (e.g. Clothes, toy).  Or nothing.  People shouldnt expect gifts at a baptism.

Having been raised Roman Catholic it was the norm to give monetary gifts for things like baptisms, confirmation, etc., so that I why I asked.  These are friends of mine at church who have newborns and I wanted to do something.  Thanks all :)

I got my Godson a baptismal cross and an icon of St. George, his patron saint.

An icon of the child's patron saint, the Theotokos, or Theophany.  A picture frame or album for photos of the baptism.  A children's picture Bible.

Things like crosses or icons of patrons are covered by godparents or parents.
