Depending on how Orthodox Holy Week lines up with Passover and Catholic Holy Week, the old Bible Epics are still usually playing somewhere sometime in our house. I purposely avoid buying any of them or watching any on Netflix because I like to keep the movies and nostalgia, always remembered in glorious Technicolor®, fresh. When I was young I used to have a tradition of watching The Ten Commandments while stuffing my face with every Cadbury Egg I had...that tradition died.
The Sermon on the Mount scene in King of Kings was probably the best in general for Sermon on.the mountain scenes, but I can't remember the other ones off the top of my head. I liked how it was something of a climax/ showpiece and how it showed the various perspectives all meet up and clash around Jesus, who wasn't really at the centre of the movie until that point (which I liked, to see how perspectives shifted in the movie). Plus that has one of my favorite film scores.
I like the Robe, and I can watch Demetrius...but yeah that sequel is definitely a giant step down from the Robe. I think all the old Syrian women have giant crushes on Victor Mature ("he's a good Italian boy").
