Does anyone else get really excited about Golden Age Bible Epics?  I do, even if they can be a bit hammy. I love old Hollywood epics in general, even the ultra cheesy ones.  I've even been able to tolerate and see the "good side" of The Silver Chalice, which requires a lot if charity.
I don't think I'd describe my attitude toward these as excitement as much as nostalgia, but yes, I am happy to watch them again, which is something I usually don't do.

King of Kings is my favorite Jesus movie.  I get that Jesus of Nazareth though is probably "the best" for a Christian movie, and The.Gospel According to St. Matthew is best for artistic merit.
I like King of Kings for certain scenes.  For instance, I don't think any other film depicts the teaching of the Lord's Prayer as well as King of Kings does.

I enjoyed this one:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nyoattSMOok

It's subtitled in English. Even though it seems geared toward a younger audience it is well done.

Depending on how Orthodox Holy Week lines up with Passover and Catholic Holy Week, the old Bible Epics are still usually playing somewhere sometime in our house.  I purposely avoid buying any of them or watching any on Netflix because I like to keep the movies and nostalgia, always remembered in glorious Technicolor®, fresh.  When I was young I used to have a tradition of watching The Ten Commandments while stuffing my face with every Cadbury Egg I had...that tradition died.

The Sermon on the Mount scene in King of Kings was probably the best in general for Sermon on.the mountain scenes, but I can't remember the other ones off the top of my head.  I liked how it was something of a climax/ showpiece and how it showed the various perspectives all meet up and clash around Jesus, who wasn't really at the centre of the movie until that point (which I liked, to see how perspectives shifted in the movie).  Plus that has one of my favorite film scores.

I like the Robe, and I can watch Demetrius...but yeah that sequel is definitely a giant step down from the Robe. I think all the old Syrian women have giant crushes on Victor Mature ("he's a good Italian boy").

Two more movies that came to mind:

The Colour of Pomegranates, a film about the life of the Armenian poet and hieromartyr Sayat Nova (I'm not sure if the Armenian church has canonized him). It's highly abstract and surreal, with gorgeous visuals and a lot of scenes from Armenian pastoral and monastic life. I saw it on Netflix streaming, but I'm not sure if it's still there.

1612. This film is considerably less arty but a ton of fun. It's a historical adventure set during the Time of Troubles in Russia, with charging Polish Hussars, a Russian hero masquerading as a Spanish mercenary, and an old monk living in a tree.

Already been mentioned but worth reiterating that Andrei Rublev is an absolute must see.

Also, Catholic not Orthodox, but Calvary (2014) is amazing and one of the best Christian movies in a long time.

I don't think these were posted.  These all have english subtitles.

Confessions of a Samurai (Priest Sans):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgFcBmoD7kk&feature=youtu.be
if anyone can find a purchase link of this movie on amazon or somewhere else I would appreciate it if it could be posted  :)

Battle of Kovoso Movie:
https://vimeo.com/12901823

I bought this DVD movie on St. Alexander Nevsky since it was so cheap (2008 film, not the old black and white one).  It is rated 15 years or more containing strong violence.  I liked the movie.

поп - The Priest

A really nice movie about a priest maintaining a parish under Nazi occupation.

There's a ton of Coptic movies on YouTube, some of them are bad in production, others are pretty good in production. The last two that came out were of excellent quality. One was of a modern desert father, father Falatous of St. Mary's monastery in El Syrian.

This movie is about St. Cyril VI, the late Coptic patriarch's life in an abandoned windmill outside of Cairo. I believe it has English subtitles http://youtu.be/uqgG0Kt8YpU

Here's another movie about St. Cyril VI's full life. http://youtu.be/65e5D6lWh-0

Here's a movie about St. Mary of Egypt, which I thought was excellent. http://youtu.be/2-IgHyq07KA

Here's a movie about the life of St. Moses the black http://youtu.be/A2yv12fINdc

Here's a movie about the life of a monk who passed away in the 1920s, Father Mikhail of St, Mary's monastery el-behira http://youtu.be/snezCFcywuo

Thank you for all the links, unfortunately the 1st one isn't with subittles, but I'll try to watch it, since I have a bit of Egyptian Arabic dialect (or: language) at university, so actaully it could be a good practice before my exams :p

I watched Zoloto (2012) Gold, recently. It is really good. There is a version on youtube with Serbian subtitles, you might get lucky with your own language.

"Yerei-San" looks wonderful. I hope I can find a place to watch it.

"Andrei Rublev" is an older movie, but it is still good. It's three hours long. :) I think you can watch it on You Tube.

A new series will air soon from the Greek MEGA TV channel with the life of st. Paisios the Hagiorite. From the trailers released, it looks like a nice production:
(Only in Greek I'm afraid)
