Air Canada!
Across our native land.
Through rain and sleet,
we dash at thy command.

My bags have gone to Ecuador
or possibly Dundee.
Yet I remain, Air Canada,
to stand in line for thee!

Air Canada!
Belov'd monopoly!
We stand in line,
we stand in line for thee!
Air Canada!
we stand in line for thee!

That's the beautiful Canadian Red Ensign! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Ensign

When I was growing up, we always hung out the Red Ensign rather than the Maple Leaf flag on Dominion Day!  :) My father hated the name "Canada Day" as well as the Maple Leaf Flag.

Greetings to all my fellow Canadians today! And thanks for the good wishes from others around the world.

It was a treat to have our queen with us today. I think Her Majesty's presence made for a better show at Parliament Hill. I really enjoyed Christopher Plummer's personal reflections on Canada and his gracious introduction of the Queen.

(As a side note, I'll be spending July 4 in the US at a family reunion on my wife's side, so I'll enjoy our neighbour's celebrations as well.)

Our Canadian flag is very important to us and although the brave fight to choose our new flad happened before I was born my parents have told me about it.  Our flag represents all of us in Canada regardless of background.  My family has been here for over 100 years and my family were pioneers settling land on the prairies getting their free 160 acres and tilling the land and building a house.

Ah, "Air Canada!"  Glad to see you have a sense of humor about your national anthem.

I have never heard of this church before.  Must be uncanonical and very, very small.
This icon is too realistic for my taste.  The eyes of the Theotokos too remote and the lips of the Christ child and the Theotokos too sensual.  Lacks the ascetic touch.
There is a really good icon of the Theotkos of Canada by Vera Senchuk of Winnipeg.  I will look for it.

Thanks for the parody of "Oh Canada" with the former government owned airline Air Canada.  I printed it out for my parents and everyone had a great laugh.  They said it is all true.  The only sad part is that when the airline became privitized the prices went up sky-high for remote areas of the country or were discontnued so service became poorer.

Yeah, after I posted it, I wondered if anyone would be offended, glad you weren't. WHat did you think of Betty Butterfield's rendition of the actual anthem? (the blue lettering denotes a link)

I know this isn't the one you mention, but I do like it http://www.orthodoxcanada.org/joyofcanada/.

The Pearson flag certainly does not represent me. It was chosen by politicians and is an insult to the memory of the thousands of soldiers who fought for this country.

I didn't know there were so many icons of the Theotokos of Canada!  I wonder if there are any icons of the Theotokos of the US.  Especially for the Fourth of July, it would be kind of fun.  :)

Here is some info on that church and it is uncanonical:

I really like that icon "The Joy of Canada."  Never seen it before.  The face of the Theotokos is better than Vera Senchuk's icon which I like as well.  Thanks for posting it.  Who is the iconographer?

Also like the parody about "Air Canada."  A great laugh.  Never read it before.  I am going to take it to work with me on Monday after the long weekend here.

And I love the flag of Canada.  It is a flag for all of us Canadians.  When I travel in Europe everybody recognises it and treats me very well as a Canadian.  I have it on my luggage especially when I was a backpacker and I also wear a little silber Maple Leaf pin too.
