How Do I Post Pictures?

I notice that some people here often include pictures and images with their posts. How do I do this? (Detailed step by step please.)

When you post there is a button with a picture in it, which is right under the button for italicizing; second row down, second button over.  Push that button, and then past the URL for the picture in between the image brackets.

YES! That is St. Gebre Menfes Kidus. He is the second most famous Saint in Ethiopia, after St. Teklye Haimanot. There is a prayer to him that is below all my posts.

I'm not sure what you mean by adding your picture to an article, as opposed to a post.

If you want to put a picture in a post you are typing, this thread, as well as the thread I linked above in my first reply, can tell you how to do that.

You can either attach them, or use the img tags with brackets when making a post. Hit the quote button on my post to see the img tags I used.

You can attach them.  To do so, click on the + Additional options (lower left) and select "attach", then "choose file"...and browse to the image you wish to attach from your hard drive.  That allows you to attach 4 images.  They will be small, and require the viewer to click on them to see them fully.


OR

You can "link" to them off the Web.
To do so...find the image on the Web.  Right click on the image and "copy image URL".
To do so, click the "image" icon in the tool bar above.  It's the second one from the left, second line down (next to the circle thingy) and looks like a light blue photo.  When you click on that the "tabs/brackets".....and right in the middle, which is where it automatically puts your cursor, just paste (Control V).

I'm using both methods here.

For whatever reason trying to attach a picture doesn't work (or hasn't for me in a long time).  It's better to embed them with the [ img]photo url[/img]
tags.  You'll need an image hosting site (Photobucket, Google photos, Picasa... what have you).

Each blog registered gets a free 3GB media storage allowance and a guarantee that the host won't arbitrarily delete stuff. (If you ever run out of space, just register another blog on the same account, and lo and behold, another 3GB! Repeat as necessary.)

If you already have a Gmail account, you have Google photos.  I've been using it for years and have never had an issue.

Ok, or really NOT ok.
Google has this photo which I am trying to post in Photo of The Day:

but when I CHOOSE FILE and click on it, now it is associated to My Photos which I cannot attach for an upload, nor can I paste this Google URL into any portion of that ATTACHMENTS and OTHER OPTIONS.
I suppose I have the option of no post or throwing all of this out the window...but instead I will go back to my hot yard and sweat.....so much better than frustration.

you cannot upload....



you must -link- to a hosted picture....


so if you see something you wish to post, you need to get the url for that picture.  (hint: it ends in .jpg usually)
you usually want to right click and copy the link

so for example...if i wanted to post the picture located at https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4a/Gregorio_Palamas_-_(Proprietà_Pietro_Chiaranz).jpg


I would click on the little picture icon above the open post window..(its right below the B (for bold)

that brings up the code for inserting an image

please note i had to remove brackets to get this to be visible......

and in between the two IMG brackets you past the url for the picture.

like that....except don't remove parts of the brackets.....
