Has anyone heard any news about Metropolitan Phillips health today? I've had someone who is not prone to exaggeration or rumor tell me that he thinks that the Metropolitan passed away.

Again, I am seeking clarification, not stating the above as necessarily true or verified.

May his memory be eternal!

The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, with great sadness, announces the passing unto life eternal of His Eminence the Most Reverend Metropolitan Philip, Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of All North America. May his memory be eternal! Details are forthcoming.

We read his name in the Litanies today at the Pre-Sanctified Liturgy.  I don't think anyone knew.

Lord have mercy.

May he rest in peace. In many way he was refreshingly candid an so much more likeable among the higher hierarchy here as in that AFR interview whee he said he had a few millions in his bank account.

We got the news just in time to say the Trisagion after our post Presanctified meal.
Words fail me when I try to find a way to express my deep sense of personal loss. If one looks at what he has accomplished for the Antiochian Arcdiocese, it is amazing. He will go down in history as one of the greatest leaders in the history of American Orthodoxy. Whenever, I had the privilege to speak to him one on one, he always made me feel as I were the most important person in the world to him. When I made mistakes, he was always fair to me. He will be missed.

May his memory be eternal.

I met him twice, and it was just like this.  A great loss.  May God give him rest in Abraham's bosom.

Not that this means anything (I hope not) but wikipedia already shows him as having fallen asleep

I just got an email from my Priest saying he had been informed that Met. Philip had passed away.  May his memory be eternal.

Memory eternal. He and his fellow Antichian bishops and clergy always treated their ACROD and Ukrainian brothers with a graciousness, charity and love that far too often was missing from the behaviour of our fellow Slavs back in the day. (Relations with the Slavs are better today, but through say 1980 or so, that was not always the case.)
