Great news out of the Priory of St. Laurence & Our Lady of Glastonbury!

"On the evening of July 16, 2015, we received word from His Grace Bishop John that His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph has granted full recognition to our monastic community and designated us as a Monastery in the Western Rite Vicariate, under the guidance of Bishop John.

We give thanks to God, to Our Lady of Glastonbury, and to our Hierarchs for this great blessing and ask their continued mercy upon our humble efforts to embrace, live, and share the Orthodox Faith through the ancient, Orthodox way of St. Benedict of Nursia and the liturgical traditions of Western Orthodoxy."

May the Lord bless their holy work.

So, how come Antiochians can get monasteries, even WR monasteries, in other countries except for this one?  That can't be solely because of the late Met. PHILIP, can it?

From the site:

During 2008 - 2010, Father spent time at two small Orthodox monasteries (one Eastern, one Western). Then, in early 2010, he accepted an invitation to move to Ohio and pursue his vocation there in a Greek Orthodox monastery whose observance was modeled on the Rule of St Benedict.
So a Byzantibe rite Benedictine monastery? What would that be?

I believe they're talking about St. Theodore's House in Galion, Ohio. I know they were doing something Benedictine-oriented (an acquaintance lived there, at least briefly), but I don't know what the details were, whether they were Byzantine Rite living somewhat under the Rule or using Benedictine Use liturgics or what.
