Is it proper for an Orthodox Christian to get a tattoo?

When I first came to the Orthodox church from out in the "gutters of the world" I wondered if I needed to get my tattoo removed or altered as it is a female body part. However it's a tramp stamp so nobody is going to see it unless they are behind me and I'm not careful when prostrating. So I wear long vests or long layers. I never brought it up. I forget it's there.

SERA PHIM

Because those books by Fr. Seraphim Rose aren't going to advertise themselves
I was thinking of SERA FIN (loosely translated from Spanish "it will be the end"). But Serafin is the Spanish translation for seraphim. But it's only 7 letters....maybe a Coptic-style cross on the pinky.

Researchers at the British Museum have interpreted the tattoo as a monogram for the archangel Michael, stacking the ancient Greek letters spelling Michael (M-I-X-A-H-A), The Telegraph reported. Archaeologists have previously found the symbol emblazoned on church mosaics and artifacts, but never before on human flesh.

I was told by someone once when I was a catechumen that the only appropriate tattoo for an Orthodox person to get was a pilgrims tattoo from the Holy Land. I don't know where she got that but I've since met plenty of Orthodox folks who have tattoos so 🤷‍♂️

That's really cool! I'm going to get this next Holy Week as my pilgrimage tattoo:

I hope Razzouk can get it done!

I changed my vote. What can I say, I'm becoming an old.
