Liza, humility is usually a desirable virtue - but not in this case! Your photographs carry a very personal and heart-felt imprint. At the very least, you would learn more about the craft through your participation in this competition.

I'm sure plenty of us on the forum would be willing to help with submission suggestions.

(edit to add: notice I've given my 2000th post to this cause - I think it ought to be a go!)

I would have to respectfully disagree.  I have had a lifelong interest in photography, so I have at least a passing idea of what a good photograph looks like.  This includes photographing weddings and developing photos professionally (not my proudest moment).  Your photos are excellent.  I have seldom seen such life and love come out of a two dimentional image.  In fact, even given the limitations of this board and Facebook, your photos still look better than most magazines.

Awww!  You guys truly and honestly humble me.

To me, these photos are simply an attempt to capture and share the beauty that I witness when I am in Church.  I find Orthodoxy to be such a treasure.

How about this?  I have a number of photos, about 3,000 (turns red from embarrassment) that are organized in some 100 albums on Facebook.  Those of you have access to FB, I would appreciate it you would take a quick look, and let me know which ones you think should be submitted.  I have them labeled - so for this contest it would have to be Lent or Pascha.  I don't think I have anything for Assumption or Pentecost.  I think I have three years worth of Pan-Orthodox Lenten Vespers, as well as Pascha.  You can find me on FB by searching for esymonenko. 

Otherwise, peruse the ones I have linked to on this page, and let me know which ones you think are the best.

LOL!  Thanks, biro!  Definitely not a professional photographer.  Just a hobby of mine.

The church was soooooo pretty, it was hard to walk out of it.  I just wanted to linger there for hours.

...as it was, I closed it down!    The candles were put out, then the lights went off....and I was still lurking.  By the time I joined everyone in the hall....there was no more coffee left.   ;D

Yes, that's Father Anthony.  Here was here for our Lenten mission, this past Saturday.  I love serving with Father.

The interior painting and fixing of the dome was completed this past week and the church looks just wonderful.  When I get a chance I'll post photos of the work that was done, along with what the interior looked like before.

Palm Sunday at my parish.

It was also the Sunday for our First Confession children.

Holy Saturday.  We bless baskets after Divine Liturgy.  It is supposed to be for the elderly and those with young families, who will not be able to attend in the evening and in to early Sunday morning.  They are forbidden from eating from the baskets until after Midnight, and Christ is Risen.

I once again, gave the kids candles to hold during the reading of the Gospel.

The homemade butter lamb caught my eye....I didn't even notice the rings, until I was looking at the photos...do you see them?
