What do the letter's spell out?
For me it's IHS but I'm not sure.
Yeah, that was my thought, too. But it's written very strangely written if so.
The Cross throws the lettering off.
Too bad they didn’t opt for the JW torture stake.
Why would anybody want to torture steak? (jokes that work in audio, but not text)

Altar of Kirche am Steinhof, in Viena. I really liked this church, it is build in some sort of art decó style with some vaguely byzantine elements.

To add some context, here's a reconstruction of a 15th century mass from Sweden. At that time Finland used to be part of Sweden so assumingly RC liturgy in Finland was also something like that.

I think the art of Augustin Frison-Roche fits good to this topic.
He is an incredibly gifted artist with a very iconographic outlook, home to the Traditional Catholic Benedictine monasteries of Southern France.
I think even his statues count into this, as he doesn't try to make them an illusionist affirmation of worldliness, but stylizes them rather iconographic:

I've never seen something like this.

Does anyone know where to buy old fashioned western-style icons? If you want Byzantine icons or Renaissance-syle art it's not hard to find, but the more medieval Western style in this thread is proving to be more of a challenge.

Legacy Icons sells works by Giotto and from the Bamberg Psalter.
