The Greek hierarchy in Jerusalem would probably come out very badly if an earnest and independent investigation were to happen there. Their contempt for their flock and for accountability almost guarantee it.
Well, I'm sad for the situation in the JP and how bad they treat their arab flock, but if something like a widespread child abuse network was happening there I think that would be public already, Jerusalem is a place with lots of interethnic and interconfessional tensions. I read about the real estate manipulation of the greek clergy, the hostility towards arabs and copts and profit from real estate bussiness with israeli settlers, but never a paedophile scandal or something like that.

Samn!, if you're out there, I remember you mentioning something about rumors of abuse in the Jerusalem Patriarchate. Perhaps you could fill us in.

The latter.

I found this...not exactly a widespread child abuse case, but scandalous nevertheless.

If you really want to go digging, there's a whole website about it. Though I recommend hiding all the sharp objects in the house, first.

That having been said, it's not as bad as in the RCC (that we know of... yet). So thank God for that.

I think this is the site you are looking for, but it is not exclusively about sexual crimes, but all types of crimes.

At least it was with a consenting adult woman.

I wonder if the eastern catholics churches, melkites, maronites...have the same problem of their latin counterparts.
It depends on the eparchy.  Some of those Churches don't have their own seminary, so they either send their candidates to another Eastern Church's or to the Latin Church's, where they might get engulfed in the rot typically found in them (v. https://is.gd/B75UHO).  Most rely on a mix of secular college for non theological subjects, such as philosophy, and and of their own professors for theology.

However, some Eastern Catholic bishops love to hobnob with their powerful and wealthy Latin colleagues and have adopted some of the same rot, in my anecdotal experience.  Enough said.

What about the middle east? Do the melkites, maronites, catholic syriacs, chaldean have this problem in their homeland Lebanon/Syria/Iraq?

Ruthenians, Ukrainians, Maronites, and Chaldeans all have our own seminaries.  Melkite and Romanians use ours.  I think the Armenians, Syriacs, Syro-Malabars, Syro-Malankars, Copts, Ethiopians, and Eritreans use the seminaries in their home territory.  For Philosophy most if not all Ruthenians go to Duquesne University if they don’t have a degree, the Ukrainians and Maronites use Catholic University of America, I believe.  There are agreements between the seminaries and universities for reduced tuition. These does, at least with us, most seminarians are entering later and already have a bachelor degree.  If it is a non-philosophy/theology degree, they may make you take a year of that before starting on your M Div.

I'm not familiar with the situation in the original territories, even of my former Church.
