So I went to the neurologist against last week and had a new one--my old one has moved on to bigger and better things, resigning, and I will miss him. The new one is older and likely more experienced but I miss my last one. Anway, my new one talked to me about brain surgery or my seizures and said I am not a good candidate but we are ordering pretty much all brain scans from MRI to PET. The reason is my seizures are located in the rear of the brain it seems, which is not very operable because of the dangers it could cause to my basic functions. But he said we will do the tests on the brain to see nevertheless. Please pray for me. I want surgery as it is the only real option to stop the seizures--even then it might not, but it is the most likely to stop them. But for now he is saying it looks like medication and maybe what is the equivalent of a pacemaker, a device inserted in the brain to control the seizures, a neurostimulator. It will not stop them completely if that ends up being the option. I really want to be able to live a normal live. It is so hard now after five years to remember what it is like to live a normal life--to drive and not live in fear of having a seizure. Someone my dad knows had a bad one and died after having an aneurysm and being on life support. He was only 31....keep me in your prayers. Surgery is the best option, but it all depends on the brain tests.....pray things work out for corrective surgery.
