It really is sad, but as I am trying to be more of a minimalist, the e-books are sounding like a better and better option every day.

But it's just going to increase our appetites for consumption. With Netflix, the Internet, and now downloadable E-books, it's so easy to find most things that we need, and we'll just keep craving more. I am thoroughly embarrassed about how I can barely go a week without buying another book (albeit cheaply). Lord have mercy on those of us privileged enough to have this struggle, that we continue to remember those who can barely afford to feed themselves, curbing our desire to acquire more and more.

Its rli interesting to click on the members online thing at the bottom because it tells you what people are reading including the guests who is not registered. Sometimes i have found some rli interestng threads that way because someone is reading a old thread and the title is something good. BUT there is one guest who is posting in the "porn addiction kicks back in....please pray for me" thread that has been stuck like that for the last three days at least!!! lolOl seriously check it every day and youll see they are STILL "posting" haha...

I reckon they must have signed in "forever" and then there computer crashed while they was posting lolOl

Sometimes I leave windows open and then go out to dinner and check the messages later. It sure must look like I'm here 24/7! (having a smartphone and checking messages while I'm waiting at Pep Boys doesn't help ;) )

I can't keep track. I use too many devices to check in here. I am bound to be "here" on any two at a given time. I wonder if I get double or triple of the amount of login time for doing so?

Other randomness: Has anyone visited their local Borders, now that they are closing? I am actually pretty upset about it, because it's the last bookstore in our town (besides the used bookstores run by hippies who don't know how to organize the books or run a business properly). We just had another one close a few months ago.

But being the lemonade gal that I am, I have been stopping by occasionally to pick up some books. Mr. Ismi has me on a limit because we're moving (luckily that limit is lifted once we're in the new apartment! whoo). The prices aren't good enough to buy from the main sections yet, but I've been going through the clearance. Got a bunch of Arabic newspapers, some new travelogues and political books, and I raided the foreign language section. Picked up some "How to learn" books for Greek, Serbian, Czech, etc, schizophrenic about foreign languages as I am.

I like to think that the Kindle is restraining me from buying more, but I really doubt that.
The Mrs. and I went a couple weeks ago.  It was depressing.  We do not know if we are going to return, even though we still have a gift card. :-\

No such luck. It only keeps track of the time if you are clicking around, if I recall correctly.

I need a CD of ice cream truck music. So I can drive with my stereo on full blast and watch the disappointment on all the little kids faces.

I'd be interested to know how this worked...supposing it wasn't a joke.

SUperglue requires a very porous surface to work (hence why it loves your fingers).  I've built plenty of models with super glue.  Resin and pewter work pretty well though you have to score it.  Plastic works but the slightest shear tension will snap the bond.  Never tried with teflon...

Perfect summation.

Thanks for reminding me.  I felt like an old friend has just died when someone told me that.  I'm thinking about going there with a bottle of bourbon, wailing like the mother of a suicide bomber at the funeral...

^ By the time we got there on our second trip, there were Britney Spears CDs and not much else. ;) I wish you luck!

I'm now obsessed with the "Who's online" feature, thank you, Poppy. I feel really stalker-y by going down the lists, purposely for my own amusement. As for me, I think I need to go invisible, now that I'm drawing hasty conclusions about everyone based on what threads they are reading. I don't think I want to be psychoanalyzed.

But seeing who's online at the time to send them a PM is good, too. Plus, people can know that I'm up for chatting.

Decisions, decisions....

Lol, I've long used that function, but it can be frustrating. Sometimes you want to go to bed, but you see it say that someone is posting in a thread, and you really want to wait up to see what they say. So you wait. And wait. And wait. And they never do post in the thread.  :'( ;D  Other than myself I see Salpy using that function, but not a lot of others. You are more than welcome to join the voyeur party! Oh, and...

One good thing about living in Australia is that virtually no-one is online when I am.

I guess if I'm joining the voyeur party, I better put myself out there as well! So visible I shall remain.

And I wonder if the people are like me...read a thread, leave the window open, wander off to cook dinner, clean the house, talk to significant other for a while, phone rings, chat with friend, watch TV, eventually get back to the thread 3 or 4 hours later.

I also want to try viewing OC.net from my phone, laptop and kindle at the same time and try to confuse the system, but not sure if that would work. :)

Asteriktos, are you a closet Bravo fan, too? ;)

I stopped watching PR sometime around Season 4 (although I'm a die-hard Top Chef and Housewives fan when I have a TV). But I remember Ms. Fierceeeeeee!

I used to watch Bravo more than I do now... right now I mostly just watch the various Top Chef shows, though the original TC is the only one I follow with fanboy-like devotion.

Yeah, some of their new programs are mehhh. Of course the Housewives are getting more and more ridiculous every year, but I've been watching since the beginning, so it's a compulsion. (Haven't watched in a few months, though). I think the first few seasons of TC were good, but after All-Stars, I'm a bit afraid to see what the next seasons will be like.

You're making Tabitha Coffee sad!

While you are watching that I am figuring how to tether my blackberry to my laptop with aluminum foil.

Only to realize that via my possible new carrier throttles you at 256mb / wk or 1 gig / month.

Actually it quite amazing the bandwidth I am getting.

I wonder how well audio chatting will work. //:=)

I can't wait for this week to be over. :(

I asked one of my bosses to give me less work this week so I can pack to move (one of the good things about being a contractor). They did, but it's a lot more difficult and the work is more time consuming. I'm convinced that this is not accidental. I also forgot that I was writing and editing this week also. As a result, I spent most of the day working today and nothing got packed.

I'll probably get to sleep around 2:30, get up and finish the work at 6:00 a.m., worry about tomorrow's work and then get to packing.

Sorry, just needing to rant.

You sound like you're having a tough time at the moment IsmiLiora; I hope the work becomes lighter as the weeks pass. I'm not too good at packing as I tend to procrastinate until the very last moment. I always seem to get things done though, thank God! I hope you manage to find some time to relax as well today, even if it is a few snatched moments.

Thank you for you kind thoughts, Dyhn! ;D I actually went for a little snooze after submitting my work this morning (snore is more like it). Now, if I can finish 75% of my work before Mr. Ismi gets home so we can pack, my day is not for naught.

I'm also an amazing procrastinator, too. I'm the best planner in theory. I use lists, post its, whatever, and still, nothing gets done until last minute.
