Are you sure you're not a Finn? You certainly sound like one.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
Finland's suicide rate is top 10 or top 20 in the world.  Depends on how you look at that information and what you decide to do with it.
We're professionals in finding a downside in everything.
Even suicide?  Couldn't get to the top 3?
As professionals, they probably don't charge enough to get that high in the ratings.

I found a dollar cent and a U.K. ten pence coin in my wallet. Never saw those before. I must have been cheated with the change.

"The emperor, lord Manuel Comnenus,
upon a melancholy September day,
felt that his end was near. The astrologers
(those who were paid a stipend at the court)
prated of many years still left to him.
While these, however, were discoursing, he —
remembering pious customs of the past —
sends to the monks and gets him from the cells
ecclesiastical habiliments,
and puts them on rejoicing to present
the modest aspect of a priest or monk.

Happy are all they that reverently believe,
and, like the emperor lord Manuel, end
apparelled in their faith decorously."

For my 6,666th post (mark of the beast, arrrrggh!) I bring you...

Nothing.

A whole post of nothing.

Stick that in your pipe and tell me it's raining.

Best thread title last year: "Why are Roman Catholics Always Trying to Jack our Swag?"

Best thread title so far this year: "Transcendental Awakening and Postcolonial blues."

Speaking of Best Thread title, we should really do a whole "Best of" series for 2013. Or maybe it would be easier to do it like yearbook superlatives. "Most interesting thread", "Most interesting post", "Most helpful post", "Most likely to make you laugh poster", etc.

Indeed it was

If I could comment on what you said about having like a Yearbook thing, I think that we ought to have like some sort of montage composed of the best posting moments of some of the well-known, outrageous posters on this site like Orthonorm, Isa, augustine, and maybe yours truly.

The only man capable of a such feat was booted: Shiny.

I'll post it on his behalf if he is game.

I was thinking of a list of categories, and then people would submit their votes for which thread/who best fits the category.

This place has gotten boring without Shiny. I no longer have any urge or need to make outrageous posts and this place lacks the amazing spark that Shiny used to give it. Maybe I'll pull a William and rage quit. Anyhoo, we ought to organize a forum-wide effort or protest to get Shiny un-banned. I'd willingly gamble my the fate of my own account if it meant bringing him back. I propose we form a petition and submit it to one of the site administrators.

I suspect such a move would be as successful as the campaign to have the Irish Hermit unbanned.  :p

"Most outrageous post(er)" could definitely be a superlative on our list... James, you have a solid chance at that one, I think. ;)

Shoot, I hate when girls on the Tinder App only include their faces in their pics and not their bodies. How am I supposed to decline the morbidly obese ones?

I don't know if anyone would want to go through many of the old threads/posts? I mean, if someone volunteers, great! 8)  If not, we could at least keep track starting now and do something at the end of this year. Maybe. Hmm...

Hmmm... I guess I was thinking it would be open-ended, no provided options. But you have a point- it would start to get tricky with individual posts, unless it was specific per thread, like "Best of Quotable Quotes". Perhaps yearbook superlatives would have to do while we start the clock for next year.

TBF, Shiny added a lot more substance and style here than Irish Hermit ever did. I was hoping Trisagion's absence and now Kerdy's would make up for the loss of Shiny, but I guess I didn't realize how interesting posts heavily outweigh those which are boring.

Better Irish Hermit's wisdom and knowledge than Achronos' juvenile rants. And TheTrisagion's absence is the direct result of Achronos' "style and substance".

Anyway, last time I checked, this site is called OrthodoxChristianity.net.

Where most seem to come to get their adrenaline kick, kill time, give others their adrenaline kick, gossip, judge, you know the stuff people do all the time.

You can call it whatever you want, it doesn't change the what it is. And I am not sure what "Orthodox" means here much anymore given how broadly it is defined. Maybe there is truth to the True Orthodox folks after all.

And Trisagion isn't not here cause of what Shiny posted. Much worse has been posted about me and done to me via the internet and I didn't respond with such cliched histrionics. Shiny deserved his punishment and more so frankly. His last post was the height of bad internetz, but it certainly wasn't something so dreadful as it was stupid. Terrible form all in all.

Anyway, what was the point, yeah this place is less interesting without Shiny. And less noisy without Trisagion and Kerdy.

Maybe pasadi will return.

Nonsense. The emails he sent me are proof you don't know what you're talking about.  I suspect you also didn't see the OP that Achronos posted which got him banned. Nobody should be subjected to such a torrent of explicit abuse, and nobody's family should be smeared in such a vile way as did Achronos to TheTrisagion's family.

Random: I keep pinching a nerve in my lower neck/upper shoulder area. It comes out of nowhere but nearly drops me when it happens- it's so painful. I can't figure out why or what I'm doing to exacerbate it. I thought maybe from hunching over my sewing machine when I quilt, but I haven't done that in about a month. Yesterday it randomly happened when I was running on the treadmill and I nearly fell off. But I don't do anything crazy with my arms when I run- just the natural swinging... So what gives?
