I'm watching liturgy from India today. Apparently Indians have filthy papalist calendar too. :-* I hope various churches will continue streaming services after the quarantine is over.

Actually I’m confused about this year, because it really should be tomorrow.  ???  Unless Passover really is still a factor.

We are the filthiest!

Thanks for your links earlier, I was able to catch some of the Paschal services from the Helsinki Cathedral (I think?) while waiting for our Paschal Vigil to start.

Pascha: https://youtu.be/rLnMici5u08

The service starts with the Midnight Office during the course of which is proclaimed the Resurrection, followed by the conclusion of the Midnight Office and the beginning of Paschal Matins and the Hours.  After that is the Rite of the Paschal Kiss and the Exaltation of the Cross, followed immediately by the Liturgy.

~29:00: Proclamation of the Resurrection

And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers?
We shall bring myrrh and spices to his tomb.

“In essentials, unity; in nonessentials, liberty; in all things, charity.”  Who said this first?
I've always shortened it in my mind to "in essentials, unity; in nonessentials, charity."    :)

Found this.
Like me, you’ve probably heard some variation of the phrase, “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.” It’s a translation of the Latin phrase, “In necessariis unitas, in dubitas libertas, in omnibus caritas.” Nineteenth-century church historian Philip Schaff calls it “the watchword of Christian peacemakers.”(1) The phrase is often attributed to the theologian St Augustine of Hippo (354-430),(2) but it sounds foreign to his style and is not found in his extant writings.(3)
Is it still suitably Orthodox in sentiment (assuming one is defining essentials according to the Church)?

All I know is that I first heard it among Southern Baptists, but I'm 97.6942% sure they were referring only to other Baptists.

  They must have.  That’s one of the last places I would have expected to hear it.

Have you ever tried butterfat cookies? They're amazing. I can send you a recipe inbox. You can use cream cheese instead of pure butterfat.
I have cream cheese!  Send away.

Something's fishy about the Bible's explanation of Cain in the OT.

I've been to Social Media (specifically the one with the bird). It's a dump.

Though I'm not sure my returning here will be any good for my soul either.

Today I (re)learned that saints Gregory of Nyssa and Gregory the Theologian are not the same Gregory.  One day, it will stick.

Once the church is open, I want to buy a small icon of St, Gregory the Wonderworker. My brother was named after him.

I make mistakes like you said all the time. I suspect I'll ask for the wrong one...

I always thought St. Gregory Dialogus was the big "namesake" in the West. Was your brother named after the day he was born or something?

My Mom followed the old RCC tradition of naming the baby after whatever saint's day they were born on.

My brother was born November 17, therefore, was named Gregory. :)

Apparently you can develop film with instant coffee, vitamin C powder, and washing soda.  Possibly iodized salt as the "fixer" step.
