So do we believe that sin is only "sickness" and never "crime?" Do we truly only repent of and go to confession for "getting sick?"

Sin is missing the mark as we should be trying to imitate Christ.

Sickness is a condition.
Crime is an act.
In a fever we may say gibberish.
However, missing the mark may be done in either case.

"Crime" is a civil or criminal offense, committed on persons or property
Sin can be a subset of that.
Is, for example masterbation a crime? No, but it is a sin.
Is not pursuing Virtue a crime?  No, but it may be a sin if one replaces it with a pursuit that does not enhance The Divine.

It has elements of both. Sin is a crime, in that we choose whether to do it or not. Sin is a sickness, in that it harms and attacks the soul once committed, and once we lach onto it, it becomes almost chronic.
