Hi all,

I am trying to find a passage which I believe is in the Old Testament, concerning blood sacrifice. I think the story may be in one of the histories. From my hazy recollection, a major figure (David? Samuel?) performs a vast number of sacrifices at one of the altars (I think this is before the Temple is built in Jerusalem) so much so that the blood from the place runs down the road for many miles. The number of bulls or sheep or goats is an incredible number in the thousands or tens of thousands. The character then leaves the place and wades waist high through the blood on his way elsewhere.

Unfortunately I can't recollect exactly who this character is. It sounds like something that David could have done, but I am not sure. On the other hand, it may be possible I am conflating two separate stories! But if you have any ideas where this story is found, that would be great! I am doing a bit of research about blood in the Old Testament and this particularly bloody passage would be relevant.

Thanks
