GMO's are sinful:

"The Church has laid down a strict rule — sin is that which harms human health," Bogdasarov said. [...] Genetically modified products are also included on the list, Bogdasarov said, adding they "not only severely harm a person, but also their offspring."
Do you like potato chips? You'd better reconsider.

Orthodox believers should shun unhealthy foods such as potato chips and products made by corrupt manufacturers because they are sinful, Moscow Patriarchate deputy speaker Roman Bogdasarov was cited as telling the Interfax news agency by the RBC news website on Sunday.

I agree, but sadly the Church is a century or two late to stop the corporate colossi.

In Russia? Good luck with that.

While on one hand, It's nice someone pointing out that GMOs can be dangerous, I wonder what the point of the church putting a announcement out is? I was under the impression that this is more of something one might bring up in maybe a 'healthy eating' open forum or something. Or maybe at a church dinner, if the parish decided it important enough to bring up.

The definition of sin being proposed strikes me as being too narrow, and at the same time, misguided.  While as a general principle sin damages human health, surely this is not by itself the primary criteria for hamartia?

Luckily, Doritos are not made of potatos.
Corn is much more genetically modified than potatoes.
But it's sanctified with centuries of human sacrifice.

Which clearly should be more concerning to the MP than the genetically modified aspect of things.

granted a great many things should be more concerning to it than what it's people are eating.

Potatoes come from underground, indicating their demonic origin. The true pomorsky old believers call them "Satan poo" and have no contact with them.

More proof of the demonic aspect of potatos:

In the ancient ruins of Peru and Chile, archaeologists have found potato remains that date back to 500 B.C. The Incas grew and ate them and also worshipped them. They even buried potatoes with their dead, they stashed potatoes in concealed bins for use in case of war or famine, they dried them, and carried them on long journeys to eat on the way (dried or soaked in stew). Ancient Inca potatoes had dark purplish skins and yellow flesh. The Incas called the potato "papas," as they do today. Following is the Inca prayer that historians say they used to worship them.

"O Creator! Thou who givest life to all things and hast made men that they may live, and multiply. Multiply also the fruits of the earth, the potatoes and other food that thou hast made, that men may not suffer from hunger and misery."
http://whatscookingamerica.net/History/PotatoHistory.htm

The Gods observed indeed the scene and were impressed by Choque's bravery and faith. One of them Pachacamaj took the appearance of a white condor and came down earth to meet the young man. He rewarded Choque by showing him a site where seeds of a plant called papa (potato) were stored. This plant was still unknown to the mankind. The Sapallas started in secret to sow the potato seeds, replacing the traditional cultures of quinoa and broad beans which were only reserved for the Karis.

In France, a potato is called pomme de terre or "apple of the earth."

When eaten raw, these delicacies from the earth do have a taste that resembles apples due to the sugar in them.

Real Russian vodka is made from sugar beets.  Potato vodka is a Nikonian innovation with Modernist, Ecumenist, and New Calendarist tendencies.

Don't forget to throw in "fake and gay".  It's more genuine and true.

That sounds like flavored vodka or an appletini to me.
