Apparently, the reception of the Andrew Philips group into Rue Darue has been rescinded:

The blog of Fr. Andrew Philips has also been turned on private.
The plot thickens...

According to comments on Orthochristian, they have been received into the Romanian Orthodox Church, although no news on the Western Rite mission.

Do you have an article or source at hand?

It's the hyper this or that, the vocally anti-whatever, that end up being the opposite, actually doing what they oppose, et cetera. This is just human insecurity on very public display unfortunately...

Okay, back to the issue here..... There must be much more to the story besides Father Andrew being upset about the Bp Irenei banning him from concelebrating with another priest. Father Andrew was "uber" ROCOR and very critical of all other jurisdictions, especially Rue Daru. Can someone enlighten us more on this?

Aaaand they got defrocked.
A bishop cannot defrock clergy who belong to another bishop. By the time this "defrocking" took place, the clergy in question had already been received into the Romanian diocese.

The irony of this is that, in 2001, it was the Romanian church that issued a notice stating that it was defrocking Bishop Germain of Saint-Denis, despite having relinquished all authority over him 8 years earlier.

Apparently they weren't ever received into the Romanian Church, as ROCOR states. The website of the Romanian Metropolia also does not list the parish.

I originally replied with a comment about the unreliablity of this website for up-to-date news due to the most recent news entry being from 2015. However, the site seems to be having some technical problems at the moment, and when I visited the latest entry on archive.org from the end of March, there did indeed appear to be news entries from this year, which is curious.

"In the days subsequent to their being defrocked, these individuals have, in the attempt to deny the reality of their situation, circulated an outdated correspondence from a priest of the Romanian Church, dated 18 February 2022, claiming that they were received into its European diocese. For the sake of clarity, this letter, not bearing an episcopal signature, was issued prior to Metropolitan Iosif’s conversations with the ROCOR hierarchy on 26 February, referenced above, and relates to his potential willingness to receive them, before he knew they were acting uncanonically. His Eminence communicated again with the ROCOR hierarchy on the morning of Sunday 6 March 2022, confirming once again what he had already confirmed before: namely, that he has not received any clergy or parishes from the ROCOR, expressly including those mentioned in this statement, nor would he do so in defiance of the Holy Canons. The continuing claims by this group that they are still priests, and under the Patriarchate of Romania, are simply false.)"

He seems to be singing a different tune now.

I used to enjoy reading his blog, but it eventually became apparent that he would change his position as often as Johan Cruyff. Now he's saying that the Ecumenical Patriarchate, formerly an irrelevant phyletist sideshow, is doing laudable missionary work in North America and Australia. That, and his veiled threats/accusations against his public opponents made the blog very unsavoury after a time.

At heart he seems to be as anti-episcopal as he used to accuse Rue Darue of being. It's very sad considering his tireless and worthy missionary efforts.

The blog seems to suggest having more local "ecclesiastical provinces", with just as many bishops (only with the non-canonical overlap removed); what specific portions of the recent articles did you have in mind as being anti-episcopal?

Anti-episcopal as in seeing his own bishop only as a means to an end that's there to provide some sort of legitimacy to one's own self-will. That's what he described to be the Rue Darue attitude towards bishops, which he criticized harshly. Kinda ironic.

"Eventually"? haha

'Twas always thus, unfortunately!

He read like a gossipy, hyper-critical aunt from the beginning. (I should know, it takes one to know one! haha) Putting all of that kind of drama online for anyone to read...you could see his days were numbered, were he catechumen, layman, or priest. God help him all the same...

Eventually to me, at least. I'm not that quick on the uptake.

...for now. He sure has been more dramatic as a bishop than he was as a priest. (Or perhaps we're all just hearing about it more now that he's a bishop?)

A short update:

Bishop Irenei concelebrated with a priest of the Rue Daru Archdiocese, so it looks like it's all good between them and ROCOR now.

His episcopate hasn't been earth-shattering, as it should be.
