Penance for having daughters.
Tis the penance that never ends...

I can sing the entire soundtrack on command. No man should be able to do that.
Let it go.
I can't hold it back anymore.

Leroy & Stitch. A fitting end to a fun show.

Even better than YouTube or Vimeo, if you have access to Netflix, The Island (Ostrov) is currently available there.  Beautiful cinematography and excellent acting;  In a remote and very poor monastery on the seacoast, a WWII coward and traitor redeems himself by living the life of a holy fool who resists the adulation of the crowds and torments the monks with his antics.  Russian language with subtitles.

We've got it on DVD (in Europe). Words fail to describe this film (i.e. truly great).

On the authority of our local archpriest, I can also recommend this TV movie, if you can find it in a language you can understand:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0273295/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

I would call it a reworking of Camus' The Fall.

The Grand Budapest Hotel, was that mentioned? An enjoyable flick.
Interesting author; a German who wrote of a possibly civilized Europe in the 20th Century, around Adolph's time and contrary to that whole schmere

The Act of Killing

Possibly the most important film I've seen in a year or two.

I posted a recommendation for this one a while back, maybe in the Documentaries thread.

Incredible film. Amazing that this was even allowed to be made. Easily the most disturbing and emotionally draining movie or doc that I've ever seen. But as you rightly said, extremely important.

War Horse is premiering tonight on TV. My son has been begging to see it from the first glimpse of the trailer he got. It's past his bedtime, so he won't be watching tonight, but it's being recorded and we'll all sit through it probably tomorrow.

The first half hour is boring but then it picks up, so don't be instantly discouraged when you watch it.

I've been trying to make it through the 4 hour version of Ludwig. Difficult, but I must finish it for honour's sake.

As the Palaces Burn

Documentary about the manslaughter trial of metal vocalist Randy Blythe. I liked it, but I wish it would have been longer.

Birdman....sucked....barely chuckled twice...supposedly black humor...not.
If you are self absorbed artist, preferably actor, you may enjoy it.
Really put regular folks down in our preferences in "art" as only the New York tribe can.

Saw Big Hero 6 the other day. Now, I want my own Baymax! I wouldn't be surprised if the Japanese haven't already built a robot that can do most of those things.

Might get a chance to see Foxcatcher mid to late December. I really hope I don't have my hopes up.

That looks interesting.
Has anyone here seen Nightcrawler ? It's gotten very good reviews.

I enjoyed it; really nice shots of smog free L.A.
The main character does "creepy" well.

So I've never been a big fan of the Terminator series (except, kinda, slightly, a little bit, partly #2), but maybe I'll try to catch Terminator Genisys on Netflix if it ever ends up there.

But that name...

The Terminator - Old Testament, Israel (Sarah Connor) is persecuted and harassed by evil people (Terminator) who are opposed by Judges and Prophets (Reece)
Terminator II - New Testament, A savior sacrifices himself for the future of mankind.
Terminator III - The Koran, I got nothing, but a lot of people liked it.
Terminator Salvation - The Book of Mormon, we're pretty much just dealing with fan fiction now.

No one see Interstellar. LotR is better. Like way. And seems a lot shorter.
