I'm in a Bach mood lately.  Newest on the playlist: Missa Brevis in F, BWV 233.

I'm happy that mine didn't pass away :p
Hey, Mike. In truth, mine are still with me as well. These guys are my contemporaries (as are the Stones). They're still rockin' and that really stokes me. The guitar duet at the end of Hotel California is just awesome.

"Window In The Skies" by U2.  I absolutely love this song by the lads!  And the 'modernista' video is the absolute best tribute to just how inspiring, profound and important music is to us.

I think the video proves what Stevie Wonder once sang;

"Music is a world within itself
With a language we all understand
  With an equal opportunity
For all to sing, dance and clap their hands..."

Considering how intense some dialog posted to these forums can get, I'm glad that my first post here is music related.

I recently finished rough mixes on a few songs for a friend from church.  She posted them here:

http://www.myspace.com/ashleyelisemusic

If I was going to pick only one to listen to, I'd choose "Better Life".

In Christ,

J. S. Bach's B Minor Mass.  Who says Lutherans can't write good church music?
Bach is my favourite too. Together with Handel.
Have you listened to Bach's passacaglia and fugue in C minor for organ? That's one of my favourites among all the other wonderful compositions of his.

Bach was a very pious Christian and very modest, far from vainglory. He said that if music is not written to God's glory, then it's nothing but satanic creak. This means, he himself composed only to God's glory. He would write the letters SDG on the sheets of his music, that is, Soli Deus Gloria = Glory to God only.

Best of Journey

I find it sad that Steve Perry can sing higher than I can.
:D
Sad, but entertaining.  ;)
Listen to you people, making fun of the disabled. Just because Steve Perry has Barry Gibbs' Disorder doesn't mean he's any less of a person. Why he can't help but think so highly of himself and sing in a ridiculous register: Just look at the disease's most famous patient. Perry is doomed to die a sad, lonely, rich man, and y'all have the nerve to make fun of him for his condition. Shame on you both.
Hey, if I'm willing to buy albums from both Journey and the Bee Gees, I think I've paid my way into making fun of them.  Sort of like paying $5 to lob a pie at your boss at the company picnic.   ;D
You also have a Bee Gees album? My hero :-*

All y'all have great taste. Special thanks to Schultz, c.stewart and Rosehip for introducing me to Steve Rikks, Grizzly Bear and Tatyana Bulonava.  As for me, I was listening to Paisley and Kraus video verson of Whiskey Lulluby: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNKXteh9WfY

PS: Y'all is singular; you have to say "all y'all" to make it plural.

This is really beautiful...I can completely understand how, if a person weren't religious, one could end up doing the same thing..

Full disclosure: I am in substance abuse services. In any case, compulsive and/or self-destructive behavior can easily lead to addiction. With chemical dependency, the brain is altered to a sufficient degree so that the addict loses control. Whiskey Lullaby is about such a tragedy. I suspect faith would have saved them both. Speaking of faith, here is a gem by my favorite female singer, Alison Kraus, Down to the River to Pray: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1FQqSGxBso

This is a rare positive message from the Hip Hop world. A great inspirational message for the youth. Nas drops some serious knowledge on this one. I can't vouch for his other stuff, but he did right with this track. I'm not much for Hip Hop, but perhaps if more of it was like this I could get into it.

A beautiful Paschal (Easter) hymn sung in Old Slavonic. The words are below the link. I find it very peaceful.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yup8_ecrFks

The Angel cried unto the lady, full of grace: 'O pure Virgin, rejoice! and again I say, rejoice!

for thy Son is risen from the grave on the third day. And He hath raised all the dead.' O ye

people, be joyful!

Shine, shine, O new Jerusalem! for the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. Dance, now,

dance and be glad, O Sion! Do thou exult, O pure Theotokos, in the Resurrection of thy

Son!
