CoC remains, though, one of the most underrated band of the 1990s.
You'll get no argument from me, I love both Deliverance and Wiseblood :)

Schultz,

Since my band has opted to cover Slade's "We'll Bring the House Down" for a few upcoming gigs (per my request), they've been getting ALOT of play in my music machines.
If it's not too personal, out of curiosity, and given that we just had a thread about Orthodox members in music groups, have you guys released any albums?

We've only been together since October, so no album yet, but we did record four songs in January for two upcoming releases, one a split 7" with another band due out this spring and a full fledged 45rpm single later in the year.

You can check out really really rough demos of two songs on our Myspace page.  Those are basically myself, a drum machine, and our singer in my bathroom (great reverb in there) recorded via a USB mic and multitrack recording software.  As I said, they're really rough, especially "You Were Loved".  Horrible singing in that one! ;)

Nebelpfade,

where did you get a copy of this?  Ever since I heard it once on EWTN, I've wanted to find it, but haven't.  Let me know.

BOB MARLEY!

My oldest son, Noah, was born on Bob Marley's birthday (Feb 6); and my other son, Zion, was born on the anniversary of Bob Marley's passing (May 11). Coincidence? Nuh mon! Like Bob Marley sings, it's a "Natural Mystic!" With a divine sign like this, it was destined that I should wind up in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church!

I love Bob! I was at the hairdresser yesterday and they had the radio tuned into a station that was playing some great oldies. Icehouse, Queen, UB40 and, of course, Bob. Ah, nostalgia!

Bob had some great lyrics, full of biblical references. I think he was a modern day David, playing reggae Psalms to the glory of JAH (God). Here are a couple  of my favorite Marley lyrics:

"When you get down and you quarrel every day
You're saying prayers to the devil I say."

[Positive Vibration]

"Someone will have to pay
For the innocent blood
That they shed every day
Children mark my words
It's what the Bible say!"

Brad Paisley... Even if some of y'all don't like country music (gasp!), I'm willing to bet you'll at least enjoy the subject matter of all of these songs.

"I'm Gonna Miss Her"  He's just kiddin' ladies...He's actually a very devoted husband and father (he's married to Kimberly Williams of Father Of The Bride) and he's a Christian.

"I'm Still A Guy"  Yeah, boy!

"He Didn't Have To Be" Very touching...

"When I Get Where I'm Going" With Dolly Parton.  Touching and spiritual.

Your page didn't load any tracks for some reason. Maybe it's my connection.

edit: nevermind- got it working. Kind of reminds me a cross between The Bruisers, The Misfits, and Black Flag, if that makes any sense.  :)

Here is a link to a video of one of my favorite reggae songs by the legendary reggae band Black Uhuru.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsnR3mKHX5Y&feature=related

This song is called Abortion, and in true Rasta style they don't mince words. Mykal Rose, the lead singer, begins by exclaiming "First degree murder!" Listen for other lyrics such as,

"Oh what a shame to see my Black sisters going down the drain."

"Woman, you can feel it!"

"I want my little youth, I want my little girl."

"Don't deal with abortion!"

A nice video, a great song, and a great message!!! Hope you enjoy.
