Wow, Lyric is pulling out all the stops.  Usually I buy a three pack ticket, this year I am seriously contemplating biting the bullet and buying season tickets.

Eugene Onegin, Les Troyans, Carmen, The Magic Flute, and Norma
are all among my favorites and the only one I ever saw live was Carmen.  Plus the flipping Ring Cycle is playing, maybe I should take my medicine and watch it live once in my life, I should take advantage of the opportunity.  Heck, I saw Parsifal and not just Parifal but a overly symbolic/avant-garde/ modern/ "socially relevant"/ sociological / Freudian or whatever the devil you wish to call that sort of thing that all good little German operas aspire to be, so why not a classic rendition the Cycle instead of some muddled up metaphysical version of Parsifal*?

Also, I'm kind of curious about the Jason and the Argonauts kids opera, and I would love seeing My Fair Lady live (I could probably take my mom to that).  I've never heard Donazetti's Lucia, other than that mad aria, but I am curious about that one as well.

If I don't buy season tickets, I'll have to prioritize.  No easy task.

*At the time I was dating an Italian opera singer, it was worth the price of admission just watching her go crazy during and after the production.

Yup! That's my favorite national anthem, along with the Russian.

The Song of the Stars. A very mixed bag, as in, there are many styles represented, but overall brilliant. Highly recommended to anyone who, like me, thought there was not much choral music being written today.

I love the Russian one too. The Mongolian is also great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00Qej_V-a3k

If we count dead nations in, however, Fascist Italy may take the prize: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2lNTdAiyWw The best thing this dreadful regime ever did was to adopt D'Annunzio's aesthetics.

You should listen to the oldest Polish religious song Bogurodzica (Theotokos), actually recognised by both, Catholics and Orthodox, that played a role of Polish and Lithuanian hymn:

Belarussian version (actually, it sounds almost like Polish; on the old times they were very close, you can hear also it's closeness to Church Slavonic):

Modern arrangement:

Great one too. Their singer and their former drummer both had a great band called Sleep, you should check it out if you haven't yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIw7oeZKpZc
