Traditional Belarusian song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04fEWQOwUD4
That's nice, but it's not used anymore, is it?
Is what not used?
This song.
I have no idea. I'm kinda amazed there are some Belarusian folk songs about sea.
Well, I haven't heard it at Podlachian parties (well, there are various songs played, Ukrainian, local and Polish ones too).

Maybe a kind of sentyment, that Lithuania was a kind of Belarus?... So, there was sea?...
But I know, what you mean, at least I think so ;)

I'd be surprised if you'd heard any folk songs there.

I like folk songs generally, and as I've been to plenty of "Podlachian" parties, I know some of them ;)

Not that I don't like these songs (at least some of them) they are as folk as nuggets are connected to meat.

I would call it disco-polo, turbo folk, chalga, manele (nuggets being "meat") ;)

A radio program on Finnish Black Metal. Only in Finnish so won't bother to link it here.

Extremely interesting but also amusing. The whole scene is supposedly so evil but actually consists of long-haired fat nerds. Apparently in few weeks will be published a 500 pages long volume on Finnish BM and it will be translated into English. Ping Iconodule.

Recently on our National Public Radio, I heard a brief report about Finland's bizarre and crazy metal scene. The band they played as an example? Nightwish. *facepalm* Pray for the benighted Americans.

What's wrong with Nightwish?

I don't particularly care for them- I find them a bit cheesy, overproduced, metal for Celine Dion fans, etc.- but I'm not knocking them per se. But if you're trying to show listeners how crazy Finnish metal is, they are a comparatively dull exemplar. NPR staff are a bunch of dweebs who have generally terrible taste in music anyway.

I'll agree with you 100% about NPR.  As far as Finnish metal, I'll agree that there are some pretty crazy bands out there.  I don't think they are the craziest, but I always liked Children of Bodom.
