How's that possible? Compared to many other bands of that genre the lyrics are quite hearable. The vocals aren't that harsh.

I think it's just indicative of how I've "consumed" music in recent years. When I was a teen I'd sit hunched over lyrics sheets and memorize every last word. Nowadays I not only don't pay attention to the lyrics, but I also don't even remember a single song name 95% of the time. Heck, I probably couldn't tell you 50% of the band names on my "favorites of..." from the last few years, and I'd have to check a playlist or forum post to remember. So, basically, music has become this sort of background thing for me.

Dissection - Maha-Kali

Somewhat amusing for a Swedish artist to invoke an Indian godhead. Apparently Western and Middle Eastern devils weren't enough.
I remember, leading up to that release, Jon Nodtveidt was talking about how, through the years in prison, he'd, like, DELVED TEH MYSTERIES OV LOOCIFER and was prepared to unleash some occult masterpiece on the world that would open the gates to the dark dimension and inundate us with evil. Then this Maha Kali song came out and I laughed.

Out of curiosity I looked over the materials of the elite satanic organization he was part of... some of the rituals were rip-offs of Hindu/Buddhist style sadhanas but with the visualizations rewritten to appeal to a 10th grade blasphemer.

Well at least it is quite refreshing to hear something not based on blasphemy, parody or irony and which is somewhat coherent. Also the music is not cliche BM. It actually sounds quite happy.

We have power at my house for the first time in days. Haven't been able to listen to my beloved Spotify playlists since then. Here we go tonight!

Husker Du drummer Grant Hart has passed away at 56.

Rest in peace. Tonight after work, I will be playing a few of their albums and crying a lot.

This playlist, which is not one of mine, has a lot of really good choral and chant music. Very restorative, if you need some cheering up. Much of it seems to be Orthodox.

Gorgoroth - Ad omnipotens aeterne diabolus

Taking your band's name straight from LotR, naming your song with Latin nonsense and inserting "Hail Satan" into the lyrics is somewhat priceless but it actually sounds quite good.

"Chant Wars" with what's supposed to be pre-schism Roman, Frankish and Germanic chant, plus a bonus non-liturgical lament for Charlemagne. The reconstruction, of course, is just an educated guess though.
