Just curious.  Who here on OC.net is a tonsured reader and in what jurisdiction?

Are you interested in former readers?

Just curious, that's all. Do you think I'm up to my old sinister tricks again?

You do always seem to have some sort of hustle going on against your priest. He chants the Paschal greeting at improper moments. He chrismates too early. He likes Nickelback. Etc. I think it can be legitimately asked if you intend to assemble some sort reader assassin squad.

In some jurisdictions, that is worth considering defrocking.

This has nothing to do with my priest.  I just want to know who's a reader. There's no nefarious intent.  As to my priest's music tastes, I cannot speak.  But, if you like Nickelback, there's nothing I can do for you.

Let's stay on topic people. "Who's a tonsured reader?" is the question at hand.

I am tonsured and ordained a reader in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese by the hand of our Archbishop.

I was tonsured a reader about 12 years ago.  Recently I've been consecrated a Subdeacon.

What's the difference (in the context of the lectorate)?
The tonsure enters you into the order of the clergy, and the ordination is into the specific office (in my case, reader).

Because the office of reader is often in-practice the lowest order of the minor clergy and the tonsure has to occur before the ordination, people have become accustomed to the phrase "tonsured a reader." It's not really a big deal, but the distinction is real.
